In my case, I had a good job, I was considered a top employee and am still employed on paper but I have not returned to work in 20 months and do not see any possibility of returning to work in the near future - due to caregiving needs. I was taking care of my younger sister who suffered from 3 strokes and passed away in Sep 2022 without clear cause identification. We were told Massive cardiac arrest but I believe the cause is different. I take care of my mother who has last stage dementia, advanced heart condition and completed surgery for breast cancer. She is 80 years old and cannot be alone for a moment. My dad is 85 years old and also needs regular care. My spouse had an extramarital affair and left with a child. He had requested me not to have a child in our marriage. I also have health issues. I am in IT and if we don't work for a year or two we are outdated.
